Creamy, smooth Mediterranean hummus dip made with chickpeas, tahini, lemon, and garlic. This classic dip is perfect with pita bread, wraps, or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can chickpeas – drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic – minced (add another clove if you love garlic)
  • 4 tbsp white vinegar – Use only 2 tbsp if you like it less zesty/citrusy
  • 4 tbsp fresh lemon juice – Use only 2 tbsp if you like it less zesty/citrusy
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce – optional
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 fresh basil leaves – optional
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • salt – to taste
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper – or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 2–4 tbsp cold water – to adjust texture
For Garnish ( optional)
  • Olive oil drizzle
  • Paprika
  • Whole chickpeas
  • Fresh parsley – chopped
  • Sesame seeds or Sumac

Method
 

  1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly.
  2. In a food processor, add chickpeas, tahini, vinegar, lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic, olive oil, cumin, salt, black pepper, paprika, and basil.
  3. Blend for 1–2 minutes until creamy. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  4. Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the hummus reaches your desired smooth consistency.
  5. Spread the hummus in a bowl, create a swirl with a spoon, and drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Garnish with paprika, parsley, sesame seeds, sumac and whole chickpeas if desired.
