3 Ingredient Pita Bread

Soft, fluffy, and perfectly pocketed, this homemade pita bread is surprisingly easy to make with just a few pantry staples. It’s perfect for stuffing with falafel, chicken, or serve it with almost any Mediterranean meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for dusting)
  • 1 cup warm water ( about 110 F)
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • salt - optional (to taste)

Method
 

Make the dough
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, yeast, and warm water.
  2. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let it rest for 10-20 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle some flour and knead for 5 minutes by hand (or 3 minutes with a mixer) until smooth and elastic.
Shape the pitas
  1. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces.
  2. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten into circles about ¼ inch thick.
Cook
  1. Heat a griddle or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook each pita for about 1–2 minutes per side. They should puff up and develop golden brown spots.
